Dojo Startups

 

Hacker Dojo is an ideal place to find vibrant new startups while they are still in early development. Although less than three years old, a number of startups that began at the Dojo have become phenomenally successful. Among the startups from this community you will find:

 

  • Pinterest: Pinterest used Hacker Dojo as their primary workspace in late 2009, and hired both of their first two engineers from the Dojo's membership.
  • Game Closure: Game Closure was started by a pair of founders who met at Hacker Dojo. They are an HTML5 Games SDK Company, and their investors now include Greylock Partners, SV Angel, Charles River Ventures, Highland Capital, and General Catalyst.
  • Ninua: Ninua's most popular product, Networked Blogs, spent over a year being built at the Dojo. They are now with fbFund and 500 Startups.

Seed Sponsor

  • Sponsor Commitment -- $5,000

    • A tweet about who you are and what you'd like the Dojo to know about your sponsorship.

 

Sprout Sponsor

  • Sponsor Commitment -- $10,000
  • Sprout Sponsor Benefits:
    • All the benefits of Seed Sponsor, plus:
    • Your company's logo on the front page of the Hacker Dojo wiki.
    • Ability to add to the sponsorship announcement a small note about who you are,  what you do, and what you'd like Dojo members to know (one paragraph.)

 

Engagement Sponsorships

Sponsorship levels at these rates are limited to 10 participants across both categories. After this point, prices will rise by 50%.

 

Sapling Sponsor

  • Sponsor Commitment -- $25,000 annually
  • Sapling Sponsor Benefits:
    • All the benefits of Seed and Sprout, plus:
    • Standard custom pennant
    • One access key to the Dojo
    • Invitation to join monthly member dinner
    • Invitation to join weekly happy hour
    • Logistical assistance for running a class/hackathon at Hacker Dojo for up to forty nine (49) people (please note that all events are subject to approval by the member-run events team, and must comply with all Hacker Dojo event policies.)

 

Arbor Sponsor

  • Sponsor Commitment: $50,000 annually
  • Arbor Sponsor Benefits:
    • All the benefits of Seed, Sprout, and Sapling
    • Large custom flag
    • Quarterly office hours
    • Assistance hosting an educational, fun event or class series at the Dojo (subject to approval/confirmation that it is not an infomercial, and City permits permitting)

 

Multi-Year Discounts

  • 2nd year: second year is 5% off and option to renew at rate during original sponsorship
  • 3rd year:  third year is 15% off and option to renew at rate during original sponsorship
